Kodiak Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Kodiak.

It sounds too simple to be true, but reading regularly to your children from birth you are giving them the biggest boost toward success.

Kodiak Imagination Library will send age‐appropriate FREE books to your mailing address every month until your child turns five (5) years old.

Local donations provide the funding for books and shipping.

Cama’i Home Visiting Program

Strengthen Our People, Villages, and Communities

Kodiak Area Native Association (KANA) supports the development of Alaska Native and American Indian children through the Cama’i Home Visiting Program.

Fun personal visits provide families with information on:

  • Play and Development
  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Safety
  • Sleep Transitions
  • Routines
  • Discipline

Cama’i Home Visitors provide the information, support, and encouragement parents need to help their children to reach optimal development during the crucial early years of life.

 

 

 

Parents as Teachers

Parents as Teachers is designed to support prenatal women and families with children ages 0‐5. Services are universal and provided at no cost to families.

 

  • Bi‐monthly home visits with certified parent educators, that focus on child development and promote meaningful parent‐child interaction.

  • Group social event opportunities to attend social and learning activities.

  • Developmental screenings.

  • Assistance connecting to community resources.

 Help Me Grow

Help Me Grow Alaska is a universal program that promotes healthy
development for children & families of all ages. We connect families to
health, behavioral, and social services.

Through HMG-AK, families can access information on community
resources, connection to services, and developmental screenings for
young children.

HMG-AK currently serves families prenatally to 26 years old.
Services are FREE and language interpretation services are available.

Who do we serve?

Services are provided for any child where there are concerns about abuse and they are part of an open investigation. We provide services for children up to age 18 in the Kodiak region as well as the villages of Akhiok, Danger Bay, Karluk, Larsen Bay, Old Harbor, Ouzinkie, and Port Lions. We work to prevent re-traumatization for the child, provide families with counseling and other support services during and after the investigation.
